(6) beware后面常常接上lest，再引入一个用虚拟式动词的从句（用动词原形，第三人称单数无-s），表示要避免的事情，但这个用法比较迂腐。

Beware lest you fall into temptation. 你要戒备自己经不起领导。

Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow. (Aesop, The Dog and the Shadow) 要小心别抓了影子，放过了本体。

Beware lest anyone falsely interpret these words. 要戒备有人对这番话加以歪曲的阐明。

Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, "Yahweh will deliver us." (Isaiah 36:18) 你们要严防，恐怕希西家疏导你们说：“耶和华必拯救我们。
”

Beware lest you say, "We have found wisdom, God may refute him, not man." (Job, 32:13) 你们切不可说：“我们寻得聪慧，上帝能胜他，人却不能。
”

(7) beware后面另一个常用的搭配因此that引入一个从句（从句常日是否定的虚拟或直陈语气，因而beware转为肯定的意义），表示要小心别做某事或别让某事发生，但这个用法也比较迂腐。

We have to beware that missionary zeal doesn't blind us to the realities here. 我们必须把稳别由于传教的热心而蒙住了眼睛，看不见这里的实际情形。

Abraham said to him, “Beware that you don't bring my son there again...”(Genesis 24:6) 亚伯拉罕对他说：“你要谨慎，不要带我的儿子回那里去...”

Beware that none touch the young man Absalom. (2 Samue,l 18:12) 你们要谨慎，不可害那少年人押沙龙。

Beware that there not be a base thought in your heart, saying, "The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand," ...(Deuteronomy, 15:9) 你要谨慎，不可心里起恶念，说：“第七年的豁免年快到了”...

Beware that you not pass such a place, for the Syrians are coming down there. (2 Kings 6:9) 你要谨慎，不要从某处经由，由于亚兰人从那里下来了。
有时候beware后面涌现直陈式与虚拟式并列，但并不规范。

I come not against you this day, but against the house with which I have war, and God has commanded me to make haste: beware that it is God who is with me, that he not destroy you. (2 Chronicles, 35:21) 我今日来不是要攻击你，那是要攻击与我争战之家。
并且上帝嘱咐我速行，你不要干预上帝的事，免得他毁灭你，由于是上帝与我同在。
